St. Mary's Church, St. Fagans. 1 Cardiff Rd, Cardiff CF5 6EB

This beautiful ancient site is nestled near the National History Museum in the village of St. Fagans. St. Fagan, it is said was one of the early Christians who came to Britain with Dyfan, Medwy and Elfan in A.D. 180 at the request of King Lleuwrg. The present church was built in the 12th century probably by Robert Le Sore, one of Fitz-Hamon’s knights. St. Fagans was the site of the largest battle of the Civil War and this ancient church was probably caught up in it. It houses some beautiful stained glass windows that glow jewel like in the sunshine.
